In October, I leased Q5. I’m due for my 5000 service and I dropped off my car. They had a loaner for me. Also a Q5, but different.
See, I drive a basement model. I don’t have the window sticker but I don’t think I have any options at all. That includes the engine which is a 2.0t and an eight speed.
My loaner is a TDi. Cool! I’ve never driven a diesel bring 30,000 trucks do this is something of an adventure.
Yeah, um. About that diesel thing. Pretty uninspired. On the interstate it was cool. But around town it’s a disappointing mix of waiting and turbo lag. But not good 80s sports car turbo lag.
Honestly, glad I have the gasser

Who told you diesels were fun?
This was never true.

Diesels excel at the highway. They’ll run forever while requiring little fuel. Have you recorded the mileage? They aren’t as nice in city traffic, and wear overly much there.

You have to drive the right diesel. I had a 335d for a while. 425 lb.-ft. of torque at 1,700 RPM. That was fun.
